The Discovery screen in the BI Toolbox is used to create and manage a visual analysis, which is the building block that is typically used to set up a BI Dashboard. A visual analysis can also be used to create an Analytics Report that is shared with other users and scheduled for distribution.
A visual analysis consists of two components: (1) user-selected hierarchy of data sets, including key fields in Conga Contracts program screens to be analyzed, and (2) table that displays the data stored in the selected fields. A chart is typically added to the analysis to emphasize a trend in a data set over time or with respect to a monetary value. A chart can also be used to visually display the relationship between two or more elements of a data set.
The Discovery screen is divided into two sections: Data Analysis lists where Conga Contracts data sets and fields are selected for analysis and Query Builder where charts (or tables) are created to highlight and communicate trends and relationships.
To access the Discovery screen, click Reports in the Navigation Toolbar and select the BI Toolbox link in the menu.
Data Analysis Lists View
The visual analysis in the screen shot below is seeking to identify the value of the contracts that were signed in 2010 and also identify the companies with whom the contracts were signed. Company is the first data set selected to ensure this information is displayed first in the results table. The Company Name and Company Number fields are selected since these are the only fields needed to associate a company with a final contract. Company - Contract is the second data set selected to identify the Contract Profile where the signed document is stored. Key fields are selected to identify the contract, including its Contract Number, as well as other fields that provide information on the signed document, such as its value, effective date, expiration date, and term type. Contract - Document is the third data set selected, and the Document Type field in the Document Profile screen must be included to locate only final documents. Other document fields can be selected to provide additional information, such as Document Revision Number to identify how many versions of the document were created prior to the final version.

Query Builder View
The visual analysis in the screen shot below requires filters for two fields: (1) Document Type where the filter states the document type must contain the word Final, and (2) Effective Date where the filter states the contract's effective date must fall between 1/1/2010 and 12/31/2010. The two fields that will be used to express the desired visualization are Company Name (Y-axis) and Contract Value (X-axis) and are shown in the Visual Analysis Chart.

Verify the selected fields for the analysis contain data.
If no data displays, the visual analysis is not valid and you need to change the categories, the order in which the categories are selected, or the fields selected in a category.
Identify the fields that contain text, indicated by a blue tick mark in the top left corner of the field header.
A check box is indicated by a purple tick mark.

Identify the fields that have a filter applied to them, indicated by the presence of the icon.

If you add or remove any of the original fields used in the visualization, any chart created in the Query Builder will be removed.
Visual Analysis Chart
The two fields used to express the desired visual analysis are Company Name (Y-axis) and Contract Value (X-axis) and are shown in the screen shot below. The visual analysis chart that depicts the value of contracts that were signed by customer companies in 2010.
