Formatting a Visual Analysis

This page applies to: Conga Contracts
This page applies to: BI Toolbox Module

Formatting a visual analysis includes experimenting with different types of charts to best communicate the relationship between data fields, highlight changes in a single field over time, or show a trend using a field's value over time.  Although the Analytics feature automatically generates a chart or table when fields are added to a visual analysis, other types of charts and tables can be used to communicate data relationships and trends.

Other ways to format a visual analysis include managing the data fields that display in the analysis, removing/changing the placement of the chart's legend, and applying color to the chart.

1.  Click Reports in the Navigation Toolbar, and select the BI Toolbox link in the menu.

2.  In the Home screen, locate the visual analysis whose field you want to format, and click its link.

3.  In the Discovery screen, click Icon BIChart.png to display other chart categories:

  • Click on a category, such as Tables, Circles, Bars, Lines (shown below), Scatter or Custom.
  • Click the expand icon to see the options in a category.
  • Click on a chart type to update the visual display.

4.  Remove or relocate the legend for the chart:

  • Click Icon BILegend.png, located to the right of the chart title.
  • In the Visualization Settings window:
    • Click the Right (Vertical) radio button to move the legend to the right of the chart.
    • Click Icon BIFormat1.gif to remove the legend.

5.  Manage the display of fields in the data section of the screen:

  • Click the Icon BITableMenu.gif icon, located under the Icon FiltersButton.png button to display a Table Menu.
  • Click Show/Hide Columns.
  • In the Show/Hide Columns window:
    • Click on a column header to remove it, or click on a grayed-out column header to restore it.
      • Use the Sort list to locate columns alphabetically, by type, or display only hidden columns.
    • Click Icon BIClose.gif to close the window.

6.  Click Save.

7.  When the prompt displays, save the visual analysis using one of the following options:

  • Click Save to update the existing visual analysis.
  • Create a new visual analysis:
    • Update the name of the analysis in the Name field.
    • Click Save As.
