Adding a Filter in an Analysis

This page applies to: Conga Contracts
This page applies to: BI Toolbox Module

A filter can be added to a text, date, or value field in an analysis to manage the type or amount of data that is available when the analysis is used to create an Analytics Report or set up a Dashboard.  Adding a filter changes the data records to be analyzed, and can limit the data available when generating a table or adding a chart to the analysis.  For example, a date field can be filtered by defining a time frame; a value field can be filtered by setting a ceiling or basement value; and a text field can be filtered by requiring the field to include specific words or characters.

1.  Click Reports in the Navigation Toolbar, and select the BI Toolbox link in the menu.

2.  In the Home screen, locate the analysis whose field you want to filter, and click its link.

3.  In the Analysis screen, click Filter in the toolbar at the top of the screen.

4.  When the Filter rows by cell values section displays, apply a filter to a text, date, or value field:

  • Select a field that is populated with text or a value in the Filter Column list.
    • Select an operand in the Comparison list.
    • Enter the text you want to filter by in the Value field.
    • Click Icon BI Add.png .
      • Remove a filter by clicking its Icon BI Remove.png button.
  • Select a field that is populated with a date in the Filter Column list.
    • Select an operand in the Comparison list.
    • In the Value field, select Specific Date or Sliding Date.
      • For a specific date, enter the date in the blank field, or click Icon BICalendar.png to use the calendar to select the day, month, and year. Click Icon BITimePicker.png to use the Time Picker to set the hour, minute, and second.
      • Select Sliding Date to calculate the date relative to a specific date or time frame, such as Today or Next Fiscal Quarter Start.  Make a selection in the corresponding list to select the date or time frame.
    • Click Icon BI Add.png .
      • Replace a filter by making a different selection in the Filter Column list and clicking the filter's Icon BI Replace.png button.

5.  (Optional) Use the Icon BI TableProp.png toggle icon to hide/display the Filters section.

You do not need to save the file to retain the changes you make by filtering data.
