Creating and adding alternate clauses to existing clauses

This page applies to: Conga Contracts for Salesforce

You can add pre-approved alternate clauses to the clause library that are related to standard clauses. You can use the clause playbook to replace a standard clause with appropriate alternate clauses. Alternate clauses can be added to the clause library and associated with the standard clause. See Alternate Clauses for more information.

Before you begin

You must add the Alternate Clauses button to your page layout. See Adding alternate clauses button to your page layout for more information.

Creating and adding new Alternate Clauses to existing clauses in Contracts for Salesforce

You must create a new alternate clause and add that new alternate clause to an existing parent clause.

To create and add a new alternate clause in Contracts for Salesforce:

  1. Navigate to your Conga Contracts Clause object, and click New.
  2. Enter the Clause Name, and check Restrict to Alternative Clause.
  3. Go to your main clause and click New under Alternate Clauses.
  4. Select the main clause and the new alternate clause you created. If you plan to have more than one associated alternate clause, enter a sort order. When your selections are completed, click Save.

Your new alternate clause now appears as an option when you use Negotiate in the View Redlines console.

To see how alternate clauses work, see the Alternate Clauses and Word Comments video.
